Seasonal Encounter Staff

Interested in working with the dedicated staff at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo? We are currently accepting seasonal encounter staff applications.

Seasonal encounter staff positions are available from February through August or later. Current students (age 16 or older) are encouraged to apply early, even if you will not be available to begin working until May or June.

Seasonal encounter staff members work five days a week, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (including weekends and holidays), providing basic care and exhibit cleaning for our encounter animals, as well as memorable animal interaction experiences for our guests.
Educating guests of all ages about encounter animals and their conservation status is a large part of the job, and customer service is a high priority. A positive attitude and the ability to communicate in a professional manner are important qualities for this position. Applicants should be willing to work hard, get dirty, follow directions, and be punctual and flexible.

​Job requirements for this position include weekend availability, reliable transportation, the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, excellent customer service and time management skills, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
