The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last guest allowed entry at 4:30 p.m.). We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Adults (ages 13-54) are $14, seniors (55+) are $12, children (ages 3-12) are $10, and children 2 and under are free. Prices do not include tax.

Wagon rentals are $4, but we happily welcome strollers. The zoo grounds are very stroller-friendly and easy to navigate. We also offer complimentary manual wheelchairs, available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Yes, our Animal Encounters are a very popular and unique educational zoo program. All children under age 6 must be accompanied by a paying adult (which can include a sibling age 13 or older). The price of each encounter varies, but children, age 2 and under, are free. For more details, please visit our Animal Encounters page.

We are happy to accommodate most types of groups, but require a minimum of 15 people and a minimum 24-hour advance reservation to receive our group rate. Please call 251-968-5732 for more info.

Yes, the zoo is ideal for any celebration with 15 or more paying guests. We also offer a few zoo party perks to add to your special occasion. Find out more about private parties here. Please note: After September 30, 2019, we will begin preparing for our move to the new zoo. The current zoo will no longer be available for private parties.

The Alabama Gulf Cast Zoo is home to over 600 animals, including 22 endangered species. We love educating schoolchildren about wildlife and conservation. Our tax-exempt school, church or civic group program offers an affordable and unique learning opportunity. Find out more details here.

All zoo guests, age 15 and under, must be chaperoned by someone at least 16 years old who is also a paying zoo guest.

Our zookeepers love educating visitors about the animals under their care and about Earth’s amazing animal kingdom. They offer keeper talks at various times and locations throughout the park. Our highly entertaining, educational animal stage shows are presented daily during the warm-weather months. Please call 251-968-5732 for daily show schedules.

Yes, the gift shop is also the main entrance to the zoo and where admission tickets are sold. However, you do not have to buy a ticket to shop for merchandise in our store. We sell a great variety of animal-themed items, from clothing and jewelry to toys and books. Many items can also be purchased in our online store.

Yes, Mojo’s Seafood & Chicken snack bar is located inside the zoo and is open 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily. We also have a bottled water vending machine next to our picnic tables area.

Zoo guests are welcome to bring their own food into the park and dine at one of the many picnic tables available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We request that you do not bring any disposable plastic items such as straws which could accidentally end up in an animal exhibit and please no littering. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed anywhere on the premises.

Smoking of any kind, including electronic or vape cigarettes, pipes and cigars, is not permitted anywhere on the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo grounds.

We do not allow zoo guests to carry any firearms inside the zoo grounds.

To ensure the safety of all animals, yours and ours, please keep your pets at home, and please do not keep them locked up in your vehicle while visiting the zoo.

Service dogs are permitted in the park in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). However, to ensure the safety of our guests and our animals, and the visiting service dog, certain precautions must be followed. Please review our Service Dogs Guidelines.

We definitely encourage guests to take photos for their own personal enjoyment. However, as a non-profit organization, it is strictly prohibited to commercially use, or reproduce in any form, photography of our facility, animals, staff or any zoo events that take place at off-site venues, without prior written permission from the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Yes, we do. A zoo membership is also a great gift for families or for employees. Find out more details here. Please note: As of April 1, 2019, new memberships will not be available until after the new zoo has opened.

Yes, whether you're a local resident or live out-of-state, you can participate in the care and feeding of a favorite zoo animal or the upkeep of a zoo exhibit through our adoption or sponsorship programs. Please call 251-968-5732 for more info.

There are many options to provide much needed support to our non-profit zoo. You can become a “Friend of the Zoo” and hold a fundraising event, sponsor one of our educational programs, participate in “Leave a Legacy” or simply make a cash contribution. Currently under construction, the future home of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, is located only four miles up the road on 25 beautiful acres of elevated hurricane-safe terrain. Upon completion of the new zoo sometime in late 2019, our animals will be relocated. Once they have been fully acclimated to their new home, we will announce our Grand Opening. The current zoo will continue to stay open and fully operational as long as possible and progress reports will be posted at Build Your Zoo.
